Our school uses the Time to Teach program, which promotes the following goals:

  1. To provide a safe and orderly learning environment for all students.
  2. To help students become responsible and cooperate (not just compliant).
  3. To help students manage themselves and be reflective of their behavior.
  4. To develop a positive proactive culture for dealing with discipline.

Students are taught the expected behaviors and are held accountable for their actions. Teachers will teach, model, and allow students multiple opportunities to practice expected classroom behaviors. Teachers will make every effort to build positive and healthy relationships with students.

For complete information about the Time to Teach program, please download the Parent Bulletin (pdf).

Dear McClure Families,

Principal Jose RiveraWelcome to another school year! I am very excited to begin this new year with many new and returning faces. After a busy summer, I am eager to continue collaboration with staff, students, parents, and community members, as we build strong relationships with all McClure children and their families. Our staff hopes that your child's school experience will be happy, productive, and full of engaging and rigorous learning experiences. We believe that all children can achieve at high levels and they deserve our finest teaching on a daily basis. This is a task that we must accomplish together. We will need your help and support throughout your child's educational journey. Together, our high expectations will help every McClure child reach his/her full potential as a student and developing young community member.

Your child's school success is highly dependent upon the relationship that exists between parent, teacher, and child. On-going collaboration between the home and school is essential to both your child's academic and social success. We invite you to become involved at our school, so together we can demonstrate to your child the value and importance of a successful school life. When parents and the school successfully work together, children are more successful and their love of learning increases! There are many avenues for parents and community members to get involved at our school. We'd love to have you volunteer in our classrooms or help at one of our many school functions throughout the school year.

It has been said that “the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.” I believe that children are the world’s single greatest resource and we must do everything possible to ensure that they achieve at the highest levels and are able to lead thriving adult lives. It is our vision at McClure Elementary to raise student achievement by making teaching and learning the top priority for every child, every day. We will work endlessly to meet the needs of all our students, whether they’re in need of additional support, or in need of even more challenging content.

As Principal, I will be transparent in strengthening my knowledge and skills in instructional leadership to increase student achievement. Teachers and all instructional staff are expected to make continuous improvement in their instructional delivery, study teacher practice, monitor student progress, reflect, analyze data, and improve their instruction with coaching and professional development. Our commitment is to continuous improvement and all students archiving at the highest level.

The information on our website is intended to be of assistance to you and your child, and it should help clarify several aspects of our school. You will find information about school programs, schedules, procedures, and policies of McClure Elementary. I invite all of you to come in so we may meet and get know one another. There will be times when I will be in the classrooms working with teachers, support staff, students, and instructional coaches and will not be available. I encourage you to set up an appointment with my secretaries.  Should you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please feel free to call 882-7100, or stop by the office at any time. Our door is always open and we welcome your participation and feedback. We look forward to being partners in your child's education.

Respectfully,
Jose Rivera, Principal
